Federal Prisoner - William Underwood's Children: Representing families at #‎Cut50‬ ‪~ The ‎Bipartisan Summit‬ ‪on Criminal Justice Reform‬

March 26, 2015 ~ Washington, DC

At the #Cut50 Bipartisan Summit for Criminal Justice Reform:

“It was a surreal moment for me to be in a ballroom filled to capacity with everyone their to support the reforming of the Criminal Justice system in America. My family has been fighting this injustice for years and the reaction was often helplessness because of lack of support from policymakers. However, President Obama and Attorney General Holder along with the Dept of Justice have made a sincere effort to advocate for reform in laws and policies. Their championing for change in the criminal justice sytem has caused a domino effect of support and now this moral “issue” has skyrocketed to becoming the commonality in Bipartisanship amongst Democrats and Republicans. I am very grateful to Mr. Van Jones for taking on the task of bringing representatives from both parties, advocacy groups and directly impacted individuals together at the #Bipartisansummit. I felt “real action” taking place. I felt real effort for changing mindsets across the board. Finally, the #HopeForFathersDay doesn’t seem so far-reaching.” ~ Ebony Underwood
